Adelaide Manufacturing

The Melbourne plant manufactures highly complex biological medicines. Biologics are genetically engineered medicines made from a living organism, such as a virus, gene or protein, to simulate the body’s natural response to infection and disease. The Adelaide site was established in 2003 and operated as Hospira until Pfizer and Hospira became a single entity in 2015.

The site’s major product is pegfilgrastim used to prevent infection in patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Adelaide’s almost 100 colleagues are employed across chemistry, biology, quality control, manufacturing and compliance and come from a diverse range of backgrounds with 22 nationalities represented on site.
