Pfizer Australia makes $250,000 donation for Queensland flood relief
Tuesday January 18
Pfizer Australia has today announced a $250,000 cash donation to the Queensland Government Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal.
In addition, donations made by Pfizer employees will be matched dollar for dollar by the company, effectively doubling amounts donated by employees to Queensland flood relief.
According to Pfizer Australia Managing Director, Mr John Latham, the Queensland Government and the community are in greater need of cash donations than medicines donations at the moment, "but we are on standby to assist in any other way we can".
"Pfizer will work with Medicines Australia and respond to any requests for medicines made by the Government," added Mr Latham. "We will also work with the Infant Nutrition Council for any requests for infant formula."
"Pfizer Animal Health is also on alert to assist the RSPCA and the Government with any requests for help with farm animals and domestic pets as needed and we will work closely with our farmers and vets to help them at this difficult time," added Pfizer Animal Health Division Director, Mr Mike Van Blommestein.
"Pfizer Australia offices in Murarrie and Albion have now reopened and we will work closely with our staff to assess the situation in Queensland and offer support to the community as needed," said Mr Latham.
Whilst delivery of medicines to some pharmacies in flooded areas has been impacted, Pfizer and its logistics service provider, DHL, are ensuring that critical medicines are being delivered to pharmacies on time. "Our customer service team are communicating closely with affected pharmacies to assess their needs and to ensure they do not run out of critical medicines," Mr Latham added.
