Pfizer Australia Research Fellowships
Welcome
In 2002 Pharmacia established the Pharmacia Foundation Australia to support the development of the Australian scientific community and innovative research projects. Pfizer Australia continues to support Australian research through an integrated program of grants including the Pfizer Australia Research Fellowships.
Pfizer Australia Research Fellowships achieves its objectives through the annual awarding of Research Fellowships to individual Australian scientists.
Through this significant financial support of science, Pfizer Australia Research Fellowships aim to encourage leaders in biomedical research to establish a career in Australia, fostering the continued development of Australia as a source of world-class scientific innovation and ideas.
Pfizer Australia Research Fellowships also hopes to demonstrate to young Australians that scientific research is an important and rewarding career option. It is hoped that all Australians increasingly value science as a significant source of innovative thinking and technological development, and as an important contributor to our long-term economic and social well being.
About Research Fellowships
Australia has benefited significantly from having a strong and internationally competitive scientific community. Continued investment in this resource is essential to the future progress of our industry and Australia.
The Pfizer Australia Research Fellowship invests in Australian science by providing grants to outstanding biomedical scientists so they may commit to a research career locally. The Fellowships are awarded to individual scientists of demonstrated capability, with significant future potential to attain leadership in their chosen field of research. These Fellowships allow successful applicants to continue their program of research at an Australian university or research institution, by providing a 5-year grant covering salary, travel and other establishment costs.
Pfizer Australia Research Fellowships are presided over by an Australian Board that consists of eminent representatives of the Australian scientific research community. The Board reviews the activities of the Fellowship, advises on the future plans of the Fellowship and provides scientific and strategic support to the programs.
