Baroness Susan Greenfield from the UK officially opened the Brain Dynamics Centre (BDC) at Westmead Hospital on Wednesday, December 6.
Baroness Greenfield is a professor of pharmacology at Oxford University, a renowned neuroscientist and is a member of the House of Lords, one of the "people's peers" appointed by British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
BDC Director Associate Professor Lea Williams – who is also a Pfizer Australia Research Fellow – said it was a fitting occasion for the Baroness to officiate as the BDC team was working with scientists around the world to discover breakthroughs in mental illness.
The Pfizer Australia Research Fellow uses this $1 million five-year research fellowship to support her to lead a team of scientists in the research of schizophrenia, depression and ADHD.
